Magic, faction tags and a way back after death

Build spells alongside your machines, give your faction a four-character tag and use /back after a death. Here is the latest pack and what is still being worked on.

Vora now has more room for spellcraft alongside Create, Mekanism and AE2. We have also added a few things that make playing together easier: faction tags in chat, shorter invite commands and a way to return after a death.

Here is the current state of the server, including the work that is still in progress.

Spells for your adventures and your workshop

Ars Nouveau lets you combine glyphs into your own spells and build magical workshops. Ars Creo connects that magic with Create machinery. Iron’s Spells ’n Spellbooks adds collectible combat spells, magical equipment and new encounters.

Start with the guide and spellbook recipes in JEI. Then check Options → Controls for casting and spell-selection keys; a few may need changing if they overlap with your other controls.

Some teleport spells, terrain-changing effects and remote storage helpers are disabled to keep land protection and travel rules consistent. Use Vora’s travel commands when teleporting to other players.

Give your faction a tag

Your faction can now have an optional four-character tag shown in chat and the player list. Use letters and numbers only. Tags are displayed in capitals, and each tag can belong to only one faction.

The faction owner or a faction admin can set or remove the tag. You can also invite someone without opening the full party command menu.

  • /faction tag VORA — set your faction’s tag.
  • /faction tag clear — remove it.
  • /faction invite PlayerName — invite a player. /factions invite PlayerName also works.

Return to your death location with /back

After a death, /back can take you to your last recorded death location. It follows the server’s safety, land-access, combat and teleport warmup checks, so it may refuse an unsafe destination. It does not restore your items.

A confirmed death now clears the dead player’s combat lock. The other player’s lock stays in place. This avoids leaving you stuck with your old combat timer after respawning.

Use the current pack

The current download is Vora 0.1.0-alpha.10-archwood for Minecraft Java 1.21.1. Get it from the installation section of the player guide.

For now, use the manual .mrpack download and import it into the Modrinth App. The linked server-install option can report that the pack is unavailable; the guide includes the manual route.

Restarting an older imported instance does not update it. Keep that instance until you have copied any local maps, waypoints or settings you want to retain.

Fire spread and dungeon protection

Fire spread is temporarily disabled as a safeguard against structures burning down. Fire and lava can still hurt players.

Protection for generated dungeons has now been deployed and passed server-side checks. It is designed to preserve their original blocks while still letting you place and remove your own blocks during an expedition. Existing player claims stay with their owners. Full checks with normal player accounts are still open.

Profession XP is still paused

New profession XP is still paused while we address the saving issue. We will post an update when training is available again.

The changes above have been deployed, but complete checks with normal player accounts are still ongoing. If something fails, open a private Discord support ticket with your pack version, what you tried and the message you saw. Keep base coordinates out of public channels.
