Vora Skills: 11 professions, your own build

Profession training is active again, with branching talent trees and separate points for every profession. Take a look at Alchemy and Archery in game, plus the latest changes to dungeon protection.

Vora Skills now has eleven profession trees with 25 talent nodes in each. The new layout gives the branches more room, with smaller icons, clear connections and choices at the ends of each path.

Our previous update said profession XP was paused. Training is now active again. Your current progress and learned talents have been kept; activities that were not recorded during the pause cannot be credited afterwards.

Open the trees and choose a profession

Use /skills or /professions for your level overview. Press K to open the talent trees, then select a Vora profession tab. Select a talent to read its bonus, point cost and any requirements before spending your points.

The eleven professions are Mining, Foraging, Excavation, Farming, Fishing, Fighting, Archery, Defense, Agility, Alchemy and Enchanting. Each has its own XP and talent points: spending Mining points does not use up your Alchemy points.

Pick the bonuses you want to play with

Each tree starts with a foundation and offers three specializations across six branching paths. The foundation costs one point and opens the paths, but gives no attribute bonus. Alchemy offers healing, faster eating and magic resistance. Archery offers ranged damage, bow projectile speed and ranged resistance. Other trees cover tools, movement, defence and more.

Normal progression gives you 98 talent points in a profession by level 99. Buying every node in one tree would cost 166, so you will need to choose. Some later talents also require points already invested in that profession; those are spending requirements, not extra level requirements.

The tooltip tells you what that individual talent adds. You do not receive a whole specialization’s bonus from its first node. All eleven Vora trees are available through play, with no paid rank required.

Archery uses the same layout, with its own points and ranged-combat upgrades.

Where training awards XP

Train through supported Survival activities. Creative mode, spectator mode and machines do not earn profession XP through these player actions.

Block-gathering XP for Mining, Excavation, Foraging and Farming requires eligible resources in chunks generated since this rule was introduced. An area that already existed does not qualify, even if you have never visited it before. Placed ores, soil and logs do not count as natural resources. Crops grown from seeds can qualify when harvested by hand in eligible new chunks, subject to the harvest limits.

Other supported profession activities can still award XP in existing areas. If your gathering level is not moving in an old mining area or farm, check this rule before assuming your skill tree is broken.

Dungeon protection now focuses on major landmarks

Large landmarks keep protection for their original blocks. At these sites, you can still place blocks during an expedition and remove the blocks you placed. Selected smaller dungeons and other adventure sites have been released from server protection, so they can be rebuilt or made into a home. Check for existing player claims before settling in.

Dungeon claim overlays are now hidden from new map updates, so they no longer advertise protected sites to everyone. Previously saved map data may still show places you already know. Existing player claims and other protected server areas keep their ownership and rules.

Keep your pack current, and tell us what needs work

Use the current Vora 0.1.0-alpha.12-skills pack for Minecraft Java 1.21.1, linked in the player guide. It includes the profession icons shown here. If you already have that pack, the new tree layout does not need another client download.

The server changes are live and have passed server-side checks, including saving and reloading. We are still checking complete training, unlocking and map behaviour with normal player accounts. If something does not work, send a private Discord support ticket with your pack version, the profession or action you tried and the message you saw. Keep base coordinates out of public channels.
